What's Happening in FOODIES WEST:

Food writer M.F.K. Fisher wrote, in referring to the sea changes of life, “Living out of sight of any shore does rich and powerfully strange things to humans.” Sea changes, meaning what the Oxford Dictionary defines as profound or notable transformations. This issue, FOODIES WEST takes a look at some of the sea changes this month’s featured personalities experienced.

Coming up Mid-month: Farm-to-Table is nice, but how about forest-to-table, or desert-to-table? Vitalist—not survivalist—John Slattery talks about his book, Southwest Foraging, and why foraging means more than harvesting something for the table. And we take a look at the great things happening at ZuZu Café in Scottsdale, Arizona.

My biggest lesson was that I need to focus on how food tastes before I focus on the presentation, and it helped me so much learning that balance.
