Synopsis: Foodies West  Dining at the White House: From the President's Table to Yours, by Chef John Moeller with Mike Lovell

Dining at the White House—From the President’s Table to Yours takes readers into the nation’s First Kitchen. From the application process to the typical days in the lives of the chefs who work there to the special events to life after 9/11, Moeller shares his White House experiences and exactly what it meant to “serve at the pleasure of the President.” Moeller included more than 100 elegant recipes he served while at the White House.Moeller discovered he had to wear many hats. He did everything from cooking quiet family meals to glitterati-ized state dinners. Maybe he’d hear Mick Jagger banging on the piano one morning, or find out the “good-looking woman” he noticed sitting at the President’s table at a state dinner would turn out to be Sophia Loren, or welcome Paul Newman or Julia Child into his kitchen. He’d often drive home to the news reporting special guests and state dinners at the White House. Moeller would smile and say to himself, “Yeah, I know. I was there.”
